In the spring of 2005, I graduated from the University of British Columbia with a degree in International Relations and a general focus in the area of environmental politics. In the fall of 2005, I began reading for an M.Phil in IR at Wadham College, Oxford. Outside school, I am very interested in photography, writing, and the outdoors. I am writing this blog to keep in touch with friends and family around the world, provide a more personal view of graduate student life in Oxford, and pass on some lessons I've learned here.

  1. Nice to see your back, although that must give you a major back-ache. At least Basil keeps you company and you have a nice window to look out of.

  2. Hey Milan.

    I think changing your marking location is really important. I have a 162 students assignments and essays to mark as well, but I try and mark them in manageable chunks. 40 in a coffee shop, 35 in a library, 30 at home, that kind of thing.

  3. For this course we were required to use a very awkward all electronic grading system, which didn’t work well with my laptop.

    I enormously prefer to grade paper copies and, when doing so, I move about a fair bit.

  4. Interesting use of time lapse photography. Over how many days did you do this photography?
