During post-submission decompression, I have been reminded of what a brilliant film The Big Lebowski is. I have certainly seen it a dozen times, and will quite probably see it a dozen more times. Some of the lines in the film are priceless. Altogether, it is simply great storytelling, and a film I recommend to anyone with a sense of humour.
Looking at the Oxford experience of stress over time, it looks a great deal like an f(x)=tan(x) graph, if you disregard the portions in which the Y-axis is negative.

Yeah, it’s one of those films. Like “Pulp Fiction.” An essential experience for people alive in the present age.
For some strange reason I have not seen this film yet and I am really a big fan of the Cohen bros. Must remedy that soon…
Do you just mean Oxford gets exponentially more stressful? That’s not true – there are peaks and troughs, something like this:

I mean that there is a cyclical trend of repeated exponential curves, followed by abrupt drop-offs, In first year, these were submissions to my supervisor of papers. This year, it is thesis chapters.
Of course, there are multiple overlapping cycles that interact like sine waves in a complex waveform.
I watched a whole Borg arc of ST:TNG tonight, beginning with “I, Borg” and moving on to “Q Who” and both parts of “The Best of Both Worlds.” It made me feel properly nerdy.
