The fourth Toronto350.org executive

Toronto350.org has elected a new executive, with our long-serving director of operations Stuart Basden taking over as president.

It’s a bit tough to be leaving the executive after being so involved with the group, but it’s gratifying that there are people willing to take over and carry on.

Being off the executive should give me more time to focus on preparing for my re-comp, though I will still be helping out with a number of 350 events between now and December, notably our big October 15th movie screening.

I will also be back on campus radio this Friday, talking about our divestment campaign.

In the spring of 2005, I graduated from the University of British Columbia with a degree in International Relations and a general focus in the area of environmental politics. In the fall of 2005, I began reading for an M.Phil in IR at Wadham College, Oxford. Outside school, I am very interested in photography, writing, and the outdoors. I am writing this blog to keep in touch with friends and family around the world, provide a more personal view of graduate student life in Oxford, and pass on some lessons I've learned here.

  1. Thanks for the work you do at 350.org. You are all a group of great people. I wish I could hear the radio broadcast and wish you the best of luck to reach as wide an audience as possible.

  2. Milan Ilnyckyj joins again this week to talk about 350Toronto (local chapter of Bill McKibben’s 350.org) and the UofT Fossil Fuel Divestment campaign, you can use that link to sign the petition, but only if your associated with UofT! (ie.Teaching Staff, Students, Administrative Staff or Alumni). We talk more about the technical bits of the larger divestment campaign as well as the upcoming Do The Math screening and panel discussion on October 15th in Toronto, with Federal Green Party of Canada leader Elizabeth May and Ecoholic author Adria Vasil.
