Grandfather birthday photos

On Flickr, I have uploaded photos from my paternal grandfather’s 90th birthday party.

For the most part, they are lit with two flashes – one in the back corner of the room and one in a window alcove. One flash was fired using a radio trigger, the other using an optical slave sensor. Both had their output set manually.

They can also be viewed as a slideshow.

In the fall of 2005, I began reading for an M.Phil in IR at Wadham College, Oxford. Outside school, I am very interested in photography, writing, and the outdoors. I am writing this blog to keep in touch with friends and family around the world, provide a more personal view of graduate student life in Oxford, and pass on some lessons I've learned here.

  1. Thank you for taking such wonderful pictures. Oleh and I can enjoy the celebration in our study at home. I am glad that you were there and seemed to have engaged fully and joyously. I love your portraits and they seem to capture the subjects well.

  2. Thank you so much for these wonderful photographs. I am struck by how comfortable the subjects are.

Co-incidentally I was cycling to work yesterday over the Lions’ Gate Bridge when my friend and fellow cyclist Keith came alongside me. He happened to have googled our last name and came across your pictures. He commented on what an excellent photographer you are.
