After a long but favourable trip, I am back in North Vancouver. Returning to Vancouver after a year feels like putting on a properly tailored coat that you haven’t worn for a while: it makes sense immediately, and there is considerable pleasure to be derived from that fact.
I am off to explore the neighbourhood. Vancouverite friends, please call me. Temporary cell phone information pending.

In the spring of 2005, I graduated from the University of British Columbia with a degree in International Relations and a general focus in the area of environmental politics. In the fall of 2005, I began reading for an M.Phil in IR at Wadham College, Oxford.
Outside school, I am very interested in photography, writing, and the outdoors. I am writing this blog to keep in touch with friends and family around the world, provide a more personal view of graduate student life in Oxford, and pass on some lessons I've learned here.

In the spirit of a kind welcome home, I have a letter from Revenue Canada saying that I owe then $740 because they are not giving me tuition credits. Apparently, this is because they did not receive some document on time. Given that my taxes get prepared professionally, this is as unexpected as it is bothersome.
Milan,
Glad you had a safe journey. Sorry I missed saying good-bye to you. Enjoy your time back home in Vancouver and come back relaxed and happy. Alex
Is there somewhere we can find your parents phone #?
Emailing me to ask would be best. I don’t really want to put it online.
I would like to see you, even if our meeting is going to be somewhat uncomfortable. If you want to see me, you should email me or post on my blog. I don’t have your email anymore.
